Ashley and Justin Valley of Fire Elopement

In November of 2020 I had a travel date on my calendar to head out to the Las Vegas Desert for a few couples sessions and elopements, when Ashley and I connected via Instagram. After discussing location, we chose the Valley of Fire State Park just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada as the perfect backdrop for our magical sunset session. The vision was bohemian meets folk. Ashley wore the most gorgeous embroidered overlay dress, designed by Vow'd Weddings. This dress seriously made all my boho wedding dress dreams come true!! She paired it with a classic Lack of Color hat, the cutest tassel earrings and the perfect white booties to get around the very diverse terrain that the Valley of Fire provides.

My hubby, Jeff and I, went a day early to scout the perfect spots around the park for the different shades of light. We had such a blast hiking around the park, taking fun pics of ourselves, while we had the time. We got quite a good workout in! Like I mentioned above, the terrain throughout the park is quite diverse. It goes from sand, to slippery rocks, to steep boulders, to massive red rock formations, I could go on and on, but you get it:) With all of these endless possibilities, you can choose to say your vows in so many different types of backdrops.

There are SO MANY breathtaking spots to shoot at the Valley of Fire!

One of my favorite spots of this day, was this red rock formation that is on the side of the road, that has a breathtaking view of the road below and the mountains in the background. It was absolutely perfect.

On our actual shoot day, Jeff and I went to the park early, to scout one last time, to make sure we didn't miss any epic spots. I am so glad we did, we ended up racking up on the locations. When we met Ashley and Justin in person for the very first time, the energy clicked right away! We had such a blast running through pink canyons, wandering around Mars like rocks, looking out over the most breathtaking views you could imagine while the sunset behind them popping champagne bottles.

Our last spot of the day as the sun was setting was the road view. We had the perfect light and had so much fun shooting this part. My hubby kept a watch out on the road, apparently sunset in a State park is a very busy time. He would yell "CAR" every time one was headed our way. We laughed so hard every single time. It was perfect!

In the end, your wedding day doesn't have to be a ceremony and a few portraits. You get the opportunity to make your elopement exactly what you want it be. There are no rules, no guidelines that make it difficult to focus on what the most important thing is, your love with each other. Your elopement can be a whole day, hell it can even be two or three days. Literally if you can dream it, you can do it.

If you are thinking about eloping at the Valley of Fire State Park, I would love to help plan and capture your wedding day in a intentional, authentic and unique way.
